Redevelopment

The Redevelopment Division is primarily responsible for the creation, implementation and management of projects and programs in accordance with the policies and recommendations set forth in four Community Redevelopment Plans that comprise five Redevelopment Districts. The five Districts are Midtown, Main Street, Downtown, Ballough Road, and South Atlantic.  You can click on the interactive map below to see each District's corresponding Plan and earn more about future improvements for these areas.

The Division provides staff support to the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), which sets policy and approves the budget and expenditures for each Redevelopment Trust Fund.  Division staff also supports three Redevelopment Area Boards (RAB) that serve in an advisory role to the CRA, and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board, a special district established for the primary purpose to promote and improve the Downtown area.

The City has dedicated funds for public infrastructure, residential and commercial grants, and neighborhood enhancements within each of the Districts.  The staff works with neighborhood groups, businesses, and the development community to improve the quality of life and create a positive environment for continued investment.
